Do I need a permit to install gutters in Belleview?

Ask the city first, because Florida's rules leave room for local practice. The building code requires a permit to alter or repair a building but lets ordinary minor repairs go ahead with the building official's approval, and the state's specialty structure scope lists gutters with soffit and fascia. Inside the city limits, the City of Belleview Building Division makes the call. If fascia boards have to be replaced on an older house, and 72.1 percent of Belleview's housing predates 2000, expect the scope and the permit question to grow.

How often should Belleview gutters be cleaned?

Are gutter guards worth it in Belleview?

Guards cut down on cleaning; they do not do away with it. In Consumer Reports' 2010 tests, fine-mesh screens did better than screens with larger holes, yet even the top-scoring screen was only middling at handling a severe downpour, and inserts did poorly. Mesh still needs brushing where pollen is heavy. In a Belleview storm that peaks at 9.73 inches an hour for five minutes, a guard that sheds water over the edge defeats the gutter, so size the gutter first and treat a guard as an add-on.
